Su objetivo el estudio de propiedades f\u00edsicas de los sistemas de escala nanom\u00e9trica mediante m\u00e9todos te\u00f3ricos y computacionales. Estos sistemas, experimentalmente realizables en la actualidad, incluyen mol\u00e9culas, nanopart\u00edculas, nanotubos de carbono y fulerenos, heteroestructuras semiconductoras, clusters autoensamblados sobre sustratos y sistemas f\u00edsicos similares de dimensiones entre decenas y centenares de nan\u00f3metros. A esta escala, el confinamiento espacial de los electrones de los sistemas materiales estudiados modifica de manera esencial su descripci\u00f3n cu\u00e1ntica y, en consecuencia, las propiedades derivadas de la estructura electr\u00f3nica.
